				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Design Associate will be responsible for supporting senior staff in the planning and execution of commercial and residential design projects, and will oversee small- to medium-sized jobs.  This position requires a candidate with a strong track record of working in all phases of design projects, and that can balance creativity with attention to detail.  You will be an important member of a small but growing firm that is poised for significant impact in the design industry.</p>
<p><b>Responsibilities:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Support/manage all phases of multiple design projects simultaneously, from job lead to design to purchasing and installation</li>
<li>Manage the “meat” of assigned projects; e.g., sourcing/shopping; space planning; construction documents; detailing custom items; purchasing; and installation</li>
<li>Assist in the development of and adherence to project objectives/scope, timelines, and budgets</li>
<li>Provide weekly time billing updates to Design Manager and mid-month time billing, budget, and expediting reports to necessary clients</li>
<li>Coordinate scheduling and communication between clients, vendors, contractors, and colleagues</li>
<li>Help manage junior staff and provide regular project status updates to the Senior Designer and Design Manager; update/maintain internal Task List</li>
<li>Coordinate and manage photo shoots as needed; select photos for publishing</li>
<li>Provide strategic input and support (marketing,  process improvements) and handle ad hoc tasks beyond core project-related work to contribute to firm growth and development</li>
<li>Interview, hire, and train interns as needed</li>
</ul>
<p><b>Qualifications:</b></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Design</span></p>
<ul>
<li>Strong creative sensibilities; ability to “get inside a client’s head” and bring their vision to life</li>
<li>Has a flexible approach to design; enjoys troubleshooting and collaborating on projects</li>
<li>Intermediate knowledge of design resources and vendors, locally and online</li>
<li>Basic understanding of “how things work” – from custom furniture to construction – and is able to identify and prevent potential problems related to such</li>
<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD</li>
<li>Proficiency in other design software (e.g., Studio Webware, SketchUp, PhotoShop) and construction documents a plus</li>
</ul>

You will be a core member of a small but growing firm that is poised for significant impact in the design industry.</p>
<p>Note: This is a design management position; not a day-to-day design position.</p>
<p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Sales</span></p>
<ul>
<li>Follow-up with all job prospects; schedule and attend initial walk-throughs</li>
<li>Prepare proposals and time estimates for prospective clients; prepare design &#8220;pitches&#8221; on Pinterest when necessary to indicate initial design ideas</li>
<li>Write and send service agreements to new clients</li>
<li>Network; conduct outreach as necessary</li>
<li>Proactively make recommendations for business development and marketing; provide feedback on marketing efforts</li>

<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Project Management</span></p>

<li>Senior Designers and Design Associates will be responsible for the day-to-day aspects of project management and client communication; your role is to manage the project from a global perspective &#8212; i.e., deadlines are set and met, budgets are adhered to, priorities are getting attention, clients are happy</li>
<li>Meet with Senior Designers and Design Associates on Mondays weekly to review Task List and set goals for week</li>
<li>Set up new clients in Dropbox and provide Office Manager with any information to set up in Studio Webware</li>
<li>Pro-actively review items in Studio Webware to make sure all orders are being properly processed, profits and payments are accurate, online client views are clean and up-to-date</li>
<li>Review designer reports on a weekly basis (time billing, expediting, profits, sales codes)</li>
<li>Manage designer reports to clients mid-month (time billing updates, expediting reports, budget comparisons)</li>
<li>Approve and send time billing at the end of each month</li>
<li>Approve/sign checks for order payments</li>
<li>Attend client meetings and participate in client correspondence for larger projects</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Design</span></p>
<ul>
<li>Hold daily Office Hours for designers to schedule design review meetings with you; provide constructive feedback on design progress and final design packages</li>
<li>Review/edit construction documents and shop drawings</li>
<li>Improve design procedure and train staff accordingly; update Procedures Manual as necessary</li>
<li>Act as office point-person for all design advice and design-related decisions</li>
<li>Help elevate IDF&#8217;s design standards and provide design quality control</li>
</ul>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Other</span></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide updates to the Executive Director on a weekly and monthly basis, and as needed</li>
<li>Help upgrade and systematize old procedures &#8212; this is a new position for us and we are growing rapidly; would love a keen eye here</li>
<li>Make sure the design team is taken care of and communicating effectively; identify any staff education needs</li>
<li>Make clients feel like they are our only/best client &#8212; call, write notes, send gifts, plan events, etc.</li>
<li>Participate in staff training and manage employee reviews</li>
<li>Conduct damage/crisis control and coordinate team efforts to adjust priorities when necessary</li>
